While Rooster Teeth has form in that regard, in this instance it was Barb and Arryn doing the photoshoot in live action.
That's the part that makes it super weird. If Rooster Teeth wanted to sell horny Bumbleby merchandise, then fine, it's not like they don't have Jinn body pillows for sale (no, really, they do). Barb and Arryn doing this, however, screams "COERCED FOR PROFITS" to the hills. Someone really told Barbara and Arryn--if it wasn't Barb herself, as she has directorial power in that company--that they had to put on lingerie and shoot horny photos to keep RWBY afloat. I just cannot see two voice actors choosing to do this because the ship is just so wonderful. There is a wealth of hideous implications here.
