I remember, around the time this episode aired, a rather hilarious article came out on Comic Book Resources about how Bumblebee was 'WLW romance done right' and other shows should learn from it. Amongst other absurdities, the article praised RWBY for sidestepping the 'canonise a queer ship and then cancel the show' trend seen on things like Willow or (at that time) Warrior Nun, even though the next Volume hadn't been greenlit at that point and still hasn't.
As for the idea that Jaune is muscular, remember that this is the same fandom who submitted Yang to a buff women contest and got incredibly defensive when the contest admin rejected her for not looking buff at all. This fandom sees more than the models show.
