Harry did not immediately open his eyes when he awoke. He knew that he was awake, and he knew that he was not some place he needed to be. That much was evident in the hard ground beneath his body. But the sounds and scents, especially the scents, drove him to listen carefully, perhaps wondering if playing dead would be a better idea.
