RWBY (Volume 2)

Written by Monty Oum, Kerry Shawcross, and Miles Luna
Produced under Rooster Teeth

So you've seen Volume One of RWBY. You've withstood the slapdash, immature, and thoughtless first hurdle of this show. You've seen the glimmers of greatness hiding in the hay, and with those in mind, this show has a lot to live up to for its second season, doesn't it?

Volume Two marks an expansion in the world of RWBY and its place at Rooster Teeth. With a dedicated fanbase that have spent eight months hungering for more, a lot more attention was placed on this show now that Monty had proved he brings the boys to the yard.

While there are only twelve episodes in this volume, marking the trend for future volumes, the complaint of the short episodes has been addressed: each is now twelve minutes long or more. So we are guaranteed about two and a half hours of content from this, at the very least. There's also an update on the look of the world, with the black, shadow-ey NPCs exiting and welcoming in a cache of mix-and-match background-ers, as well as an end to the art deco.

Well, the art deco doesn't totally end. There's also something new: "World of Remnant"--short animated infodumps regarding the lore of the universe that could be enjoyed on the weeks Rooster Teeth took off so that the coming episode could be completed in good quality. This should tell you something about the work ethic up at house and the quality of the world-building and the story-building. Since we're doing this years after the fact and we don't have to wait, we'll tackle them all at once halfway through the volume recap.

I'm really excited to start this volume, as while it's probably my favorite of the bunch, there's...a lot of noteworthy problems here, and nothing would please me more than to drill them into the dirt.

Also, there are no distinct in-story trailers to go over here, so no need to do another "post zero". There is still the Volume 2 trailer, if you feel inclined to watch it--it may help to understand the heightened expectations these fans had.
